GOLF CLUBS DO NOT PLAY GOLF; HUMANS DO.  This is so obvious that it does not require an explanation.  However, the manufacturers have been able to keep selling arrows when all should know it is the Indian, not the bow and arrow that obtains accuracy.

TRUTH IN MISSION:  Our mission is to improve how humans play golf.  This is in opposition to the mission of the golf club equipment manufacturers.  They market new equipment each year, allegedly better than the last.

TRUTH IN EQUIPMENT: Yes, the golf ball goes further and the face of the driver has a spring effect.  However, after the few improvements, the day is won by who is the best marketeer, not the technology.  It is noteworthy that Nike withdrew from the golf equipment industry after spending multi-millions on endorsements, including Tiger Woods first payment of sixty million years ago.

TRUTH; IT IS FASHION, NOT TECHNOLOGY:  The main money-making product line in golf is apparel.  The profit margin is greater, the inventory turnover is faster. The last major company to enter the PGA tour for endorsements, Under Armour, has no golf equipment, only apparel.

Golf is now a fashion industry, period.  Support for that statement is that a few years ago Taylor Made fired their putter designers and hired fashion designers for the putter line.  The fashion designer decided the new putter line should be painted red. Luckily, they got a win on tour; i.e. television exposure. Low and behold, they changed the market so that even the market leader, Odyssey had to paint their leading brands red in order to compete.

TRUTH YOU NEVER HEARD OF:  The human being has a innate sense of where their body parts area in space.  For instance, most people can close their eyes and touch their index finger to their nose.

PROPRIOCEPTION: The ability to do this is a medical term, proprioception.  This is the ability to recognize where one’s body parts are in space. A high level of proprioception is common denominator of every PGA tour player.

Proprioception is linked with muscle motor memory which allows the human to remember without thinking how to repeat the same motion as before.  The nerve endings in the tendons, muscles and joints contribute to the collection of data to send off to the brain that computes the information and returns the right signals to the muscles as to where to move time after time.  This is muscle memory, but does not exist absent the sensory input.

TACTILE EDGE ORIENTATION PROCESSING:  This is a fancy series of words that in effect means that sensory impressions on the human skin collect data similar to the nerve endings in tendons, muscles and joints to send to the brain, indicating where the body part is in space.

This is a new concept, supported by medical study and many publications. One such publication is:  Pruszynski JA, Johansson RS, Flanagan JR. A Rapid Tactile-Motor Reflex Automatically Guides Reaching toward Handheld Objects. Volume 26, Issue 6, 21 March 2016, Pages 788-792.  This and others like it confirm that the impressions on the human skin give sensory input to enhance proprioception; where my body parts are in space.

UNKNOWN TRUTH:  Not only is this truth unknown in golf, few doctors specializing in musculoskeletal health even recognize tactile edge orientation processing, let alone its importance.
